French hi-fi outfit JM Reynaud to release its first wireless hi-fi speaker

It comes in at a hefty 18kg, sports five drivers and 255 watts of power. It’s from JM Reynaud. And it’s called the AGAPÉ.

Local agent Stephen Seque of SoulToSole Audio can’t wait for JM Reynaud’s latest speaker to reach dry dock in New Zealand.

The French company has built up a fearsome reputation for quality hi-fi over its 55-year duration, and its first-ever wireless loudspeaker promises the kind of performance usually expected from wired stereo speakers.

The AGAPÉ is a wireless powered speaker with a 19mm MDF chassis and the kind of beautiful real-wood veneer the company are renowned for. Stephen expects the AGAPÉ to boast the warm and full-bodied sound typical of JM Reynaud speakers.

From the JM Reynaud blurb: “The AGAPÉ brings a high-quality touch to this type of product thanks to its unique design and its handcrafted manufacturing. It is assembled with great care and noble materials, natural wood, a cabinet worthy of a real high-end loudspeaker. A very accurate acoustic design and above all true high-range drivers specially developed for it.”

JM Reynaud doesn’t claim the AGAPÉ as a portable speaker, but rather a “transportable” speaker… a speaker you might want to take away to a winter holiday in the mountains.

The AGAPÉ features Airplay and Bluetooth, connectivity to streaming services like Qobuz, Tidal and the usual less hi-fi varieties, ability to be set up as a multiroom system, up to 24bits/192 KHz, analogue and digital inputs, physical controls, downloadable app, DSP with four configurations.

Freight and world currencies are in flux at the moment but the AGAPÉ should be available in NZ within a few months with an RRP of between $3495 and $3995.

Available through SoulToSole Audio.
