Storehouse Is Open For Parties

LOOKING FOR A good night out leading up to Christmas? Witchdoctor-endorsed blues legend Storehouse Blues (aka Tom Rodwell) is performing a series of hot dates around the City Of Sails during December, as outlined below.
But what to expect? Gary Steel’s Metro magazine review of his debut album earlier this year had this to say: “Rodwell has toured his eccentric take on ancient blues around the traps in England, Europe and our own fair land for some years, but this is his album debut. Unlike the song he recorded on wax cylinder, an all-but-extinct pre-78rpm music playback system, this is aimed at a wider audience, but his vision remains undiluted: Rodwell tunes into the disregard for musical convention those early country blues players and prison gospel hollerers exhibited, building on the inherent dissonance, the wilful examination of guitar vernacular shorn of all the bluster and noxious rock moves so many white players have encumbered the genre with. But despite its minimalist austerity and a lo-res recording, Rodwell – like those early blues players – is a pragmatist, and the music swings. This is no dry exercise in ethnomusicology, but a subtle reinvention of the most daring, and entertaining aspects of music styles long thought atrophied, and with just voice and guitar (and odd smatters of percussion), he wills it alive.”
