D-Link announces a pile of new gear

PAT PILCHER previews a veritable Santa’s goody bag full of covetable new D-Link products.

D-Link’s 4G LTE USB Adaptor

The elves at D-Link’s North Pole factory must have been extra busy. They’ve just announced a tonne of gadgetry goodness, all of which is soon to be reviewed by Witchdoctor.

D-Link has finally launched two Mesh Gigabit Wi-Fi Routers, and the AC1750 comes with EasyMesh baked in. Because of this, it’ll seamlessly connect to any EasyMesh extenders with no conflicts. It also comes with MU-MIMO technology as well as Google Assistant/Amazon Alexa integration for voice control.

But there’s more! D-Link also announced 4G hotspot widgets for connectivity on the move. Their DWM-222 4G USB adapter delivers downlink speeds of up to 150 Mbps and uplink speeds of up to 50 Mbps. Being a USB dongle, it’s pocketable and plugs into a spare USB port on your PC for internet access anywhere you’ve got 4G coverage. Because drivers are built-in, installation is both fast and straightforward as you don’t need to download any additional software.

D-Link’s new DWR-933 allows you to create your own 4G Wi-Fi hotspot which can be easily shared by laptops, tablets and phones alike, making it ideal for Christmas road trips with bored kids in the car. (It can handle up to 32 simultaneously connected Wi-Fi devices).

Because it supports CAT6 LTE, download speeds reach a zippy 300Mbps, with upload speeds of up to 50 Mbps. On the Wi-Fi front, it’s no slouch either. You can get a whopping 1200Mbps combined speeds over Wi-Fi by using two dedicated Wi-Fi bands. A built-in MicroSD slot means it’ll easily share up to 64GB of files. It comes with a built?in firewall and uses WPA/WPA2 Wi-Fi encryption, so your traffic is always protected against eavesdropping and unauthorised access.

Last, but by no means least, D-Link also announced the DWA-X3000, a Wi-Fi 6 PCIe Adapter with Bluetooth® 5.1 that lets you upgrade your PC to next-gen Wi-Fi. It’ll deliver a blazing 2402Mbps (on the 5GHz band) and 600Mbps (on the 2.4GHz band). It also adds Bluetooth 5.1 to your PC, which makes connecting Bluetooth gizmos a doddle as you don’t need to clutter up your computer desk with additional adapters.
