Tekton Design Loudspeakers Available In NZ Through Parmenter Sound

May 22, 2016

PARMENTER SOUND HAS secured the local agency for Tekton Design, a loudspeaker manufacturer we weren’t familiar with. To put it mildly, we’re intrigued by this company’s designs and are keen to hear their products.

Tekton Design loudspeakers are said to be a fusion of pro audio and audiophile grade fidelity – lofty goals indeed because the two don’t always play well together. Eric Alexander, the design guru and owner, makes a lot of loudspeakers for musicians and professional audio engineers – for example the latest engineers appearing on the Tekton Design Facebook page are Sean Sully Sullivan and Ammar Malik.

Initially, Jason will have Tekton’s Pendragon loudspeakers available to audition in his Muriwai Beach music studio.

WD-Tekton-PendragonThe Pendragon is a 95db 1watt @ 1metre sensitivity loudspeaker using 2 x 10-inch hemp paper mid-bass drivers and 3 tweeters per speaker. The Pendragon can easily be powered by low powered valve amplifiers or high power solid state and valve designs.

Specifications:

  • Dual 10-inch hemp paper transducers.
  • 3 x 1-inch tweeter.
  • 400 Watt power handling.
  • 95dB 1W@1m.
  • 8 Ohms or 4 Ohms option to order.
  • Frequency Response 20Hz-30kHz.
  • Height 1372 x Width 305 x Depth 406 mm.
  • Mundorf capacitors crossover components used.
  • Duelund Coherent Audio crossover versions available to order.
  • Many colour and wood grain options available.
  • Hand made in the USA.

Jason tells us that Tekton Design is hand-building loudspeakers to his specifications. This means he can tailor-make each loudspeaker to customer needs. All the speakers available in NZ have  upgraded crossovers and internal wiring.

The Pendragon is priced at $7900 with the Mundorf crossover option and standard paint finish. Gloss automotive paints and Duelund Coherent Audio crossovers parts are optional.

Check out the top of the range 1812 model! That might just be the rarely seen serious fusion of live sound power and audiophile quality!
