Image Loudspeakers Launches New Maestro Floorstander

September 1, 2015

WITCHDOCTOR IS A big supporter of the NZ audio industry, and it always puts a smile on our face to see new products and models being released. Chris Ball from Image Loudspeakers dropped us a note to tell us about the latest model in the Image series – Maestro. This new floorstander is billed as being ‘the perfect choice for audio and home theatre aficionados who desire a large scale sound stage and a full bodied bass response’. It’s basically a big brother to the popular 414 model.

Chris tells us that at the heart of the new speaker are pedigree drivers that have been chosen to ‘integrate perfectly to present a totally seamless top-to-bottom sound source’. High frequencies are reproduced by the Morel ET338, a 28mm, hand-coated soft dome tweeter using triple magnet technology pioneered by Morel. Perfect acoustic loading under the dome ensures there is no compression or harmonic distortion, and being supplied as ‘frequency matched’ pairs ensures pin-point vocal and instrument focus within the sound stage.

WD-Image_Maestro_comboCritical to any speaker is the midrange where the human ear detects so much of the layered inner detail, fine harmonic texture and overall realism. For Maestro, Image employs a 16cm DPC driver from Morel. This mid driver is mounted in a sub-enclosure that provides an acoustic/mechanical low-end roll off.

Two identical 16cm Morel drivers with extra-large 75mm voice coils are mounted in their own reflex-loaded and rear ported bass compartment. Additional internal bracing elements and acoustic wool damping elements guarantee a controlled, extended and dynamic bass response.

High quality crossover components and internal wiring are crucial in getting the audio signal to the speaker drivers without signal loss or degradation. Only the best of these have been selected for their performance within specific parts of the circuitry. As in all Image models, Supra multi-strand OFC Concentric Cable from Sweden is used throughout.

Maestro is designed for medium to large listening rooms, and requires some distance from rear walls to attain a balanced frequency response. This Image model is suited for the most demanding high-quality audio systems but is equally at home as front/main speakers in home theatre sound systems.

RRP is $4000 per pair. For more information, for more information contact Chris Ball at [email protected] or call him on 0274936049
