Cambridge Audio Updates And Expands Bluetooth Speaker Range

November 14, 2014

CAMBRIDGE AUDIO HAS announced a range of Bluetooth audio products featuring a new and improved version of the original multi-award winning Minx Go portable speaker, a new Go Radio model with built-in FM tuner, and a larger home orientated set – the Bluetone100.

The new Go portable speaker updates the specification of the award-winning Minx Go to add NFC technology (Near Field Communication) for even simpler, one-touch Bluetooth pairing. It offers support for aptX Bluetooth to guarantee the highest quality playback.

Just like its predecessor, the Go offers a class leading 18 hours playback from a single battery charge. Users can also charge portable devices (phones, tablets) via the Go using the convenient USB port on the back of the product – great for outdoor environments where charging facilities are limited.

The new Go uses a high efficiency, DSP driven digital amplifier to drive a high spec speaker system with twin mid-range drivers, twin tweeters and a large rear-firing ABR (Auxiliary Bass Radiator).

The Go will also remember up to eight different Bluetooth devices that it has been paired to, so each time users switch it on, the connection should be instant and automatic. There’s also a 3.5mm analogue input.

The Go Radio enjoys the same high specification as the new Go model, including class leading 18 hour battery life, Near Field Communication for simpler Bluetooth pairing, and the superior quality of Bluetooth aptX, while adding the maximum portable convenience of an integrated FM radio.

With Go Radio you can listen to FM radio or play music, from any phone, tablet or computer. Three FM presets make it easier than ever to listen to your favourite FM stations. A discreet LED digital display behind the front grille indicates which input is selected or which FM radio station is currently playing.

There’s also the option to access the thousands of internet/digital radio stations by simply streaming them from your favourite apps, plus the option to play music from other devices using the 3.5mm Aux input. And to ensure you’re never without battery charge on your portable devices (phones, tablets) you can charge them on the go via the USB charging port.

The Bluetone 100 with a powerful 100 watts of amplification can connect to virtually any Bluetooth device, and with a range of up to 10 metres, it’s never been easier to enjoy music around your home.

Not only does it deliver room filling sound, the Bluetone has been specially constructed with a one-piece casework, designed to give class leading elimination of rattles and vibrations. To guarantee the best possible sound performance, the Bluetone 100 uses premium grade components including a powerful 100W, DSP driven Class-D amplifier to drive patented BMR (Balanced Mode Radiator) drive units.

Cambridge has chosen to develop its own BMR drivers due to their combination of offering both a larger driver with a slimmer profile while offering superior performance to conventional drivers. And by supporting Bluetooth aptX, streamed sound quality is excellent giving the best possible results for any Bluetooth device and CD quality playback for aptX compatible products. The Bluetooth 100 can also be tuned to work optimally in any listening environment via the convenient bass control knob on the rear of the speaker.

With its simple button layout and LEDs to indicate pairing and input, the Bluetone 100 can be up and running in seconds. It also boasts the environmental feature Auto Power Down (APD), conserves energy by automatically switching your Bluetone 100 off after eight hours if no buttons have been pressed in that time.

These units are due in NZ by early December – for more information, check out www.pqimports.co.nz
