IT GOES WITHOUT saying that Witchdoctor readers are music connoisseurs. Not for them the average commercial rubbish. They need some musical roughage in their lives, something a bit different, something that sounds good, something that is good.
So we thought you might want to know about this.
It’s called In House, and it’s billed as “Songs & Conversations featuring Don McGlashan, Shayne Carter, Anika Moa & Buzz Moller”. And it takes place at the Q Theatre on Wednesday April 16.
It’s a fundraiser with a difference for the Music Foundation, which you can read about here.
Presumably, the show will consist of its four stars performing their classic songs, and talking about them. We don’t really know, but it sounds very cool.
For those who need reminding, Don McGlashan is one of NZ’s finest songwriters, with a past that includes Blam Blam Blam, The Front Lawn and The Muttonbirds. Shayne Carter is, er, one of NZ’s finest songwriters, with a past that includes Straitjacket Fits, Dimmer and The Adults. Anika Moa is, er… er, one of NZ’s finest songwriters, whose past includes a stellar career as herself. Buzz Moller is, uh… well, he’s the guy from Voom, if you remember Voom.
So here’s the thing: tickets go on sale at the Q Theatre on March 5, and it’s a ‘first in best seats’ situation, so we recommend that you get a hurry-on.

You’re quite right in saying that Buzz Moller is “the guy from Voom” but among new Zealand’s songwriters he’s regarded as … er, one of NZ’s finest songwriters. True dat.
