Calexico To Tour NZ

Calexico_102512_BellyUp_19CALEXICO, A GROUP much loved by New Zealanders for its unique brand of desert noir, will return here this September for dates in major centres.
Last visiting NZ in 2010, the group has been busy with extensive touring, collaborations, two movie soundtracks and an anthology of live recordings, Road Atlas.
The tour promotes the group’s new album, Algiers, which was recorded in and inspired by New Orleans.
Calexico has been touring the world with their fusion of Portugese fado, ’50s jazz, gypsy music, ’60s surf and country twang, spaghetti epics and dark and moody indie rock since 1996, and over that time has released seven studio albums.
The Calexico NZ tour comprises:
The Powerstation, Auckland, Thursday 12 September (with special guest Tiny Ruins)
The Opera House, Wellington, Friday 13 September (with Tiny Ruins)
Christchurch Arts Festival, Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 September.
