Sony Announces Hi-Res RX1R

June 28, 2013

sony-dsc-RX1R-640x448SONY IS CALLING its new, top of the line Cyber-shot RX1R ‘a revolution in resolution’.
The camera and its 24.3 megapixels and Carl Zeiss Sonnar T F2 lens will make its retail debut in New Zealand mid-July, and retail for $3999.
This full-frame compact sister to the RX1 ‘takes pixel-perfect picture quality to new heights’, according to Sony, ‘the model’s “R” suffix denoting a further improvement in the camera’s spectacular resolution.’
Unlike the RX1, the low-pass filter is absent from the RX1R, ‘ensuring flawless capture of fine details without any blurring or dispersion.’ While low-pass filters can be handy to suppress unwanted moiré and colour artefacts, the RX1R’s ‘processing functions have been optimized to maintain image sharpness without compromising lens/sensor performance.’
Especially good at landscapes and any finely detailed subjects, the RX1R also boasts TRILUMINOS Colour technology, ‘ensuring richer, more natural colours when viewing stills and video on new generation BRAVIA televisions featuring the TRILUMINOS display.’
The RX1R will be available from Sony Stores and selected Sony retailers.
