SONY HAS GONE to town with the release of not one, not two but three new VAIO notebook computer ranges – The T, S and Z series
The 13.3-inch VAIO T Series is the first Ultrabook computer to carry the VAIO name. They’re thin, light and very portable, and styled in tough magnesium and aluminium. The T Series features Rapid Wake + Eco to gets users up and running in moments after opening the lid but also offers an energy-efficient deep sleep state, keeping data stored safely for up to 30 days without running out of power.
The T series uses a hybrid drive composed of a HDD and SSD (solid-state drive) that provides significantly faster data retrieval than with a HDD alone. The SSD is used as cache memory, and because it can be accessed much faster than the HDD, data can be read at higher speeds. This shortens the boot time and reduces the time required to load the applications people use the most.
The VAIO Z Series gives multi-tasking mobile professionals the very last word in performance, looks, mobility and expandability. This is the fastest-ever VAIO, because it’s fitted with Intel’s 3rd generation Core i7 quad-core processors and 3rd generation SSD RAID drives. It weighs less than 1.2kg and is only 17mm thick, styled in carbon fibre and aluminium. The Z series can run for up to 14 hours with the optional sheet battery and a Power Media Dock adds a BD optical drive and advanced graphics functionality.
Crafted for comfort, power and performance, the VAIO S Series weighs just 1.59kg and measures a slim 22.8mm. Elegantly styled in tough, weight-saving materials, it also features a new slot-in optical drive, which not only maintains the notebook’s slim, low profile looks but also increases the rigidity of the frame and strengthens the body.
Available in both 13.3-inch LCD, or a full-size 15.5-inch LCD, the slim, full-flat design of the S Series fits easily into a travel bag, plus, with the optional Extended Sheet Battery providing up to 12 hours of battery life, it can handle the demands of the toughest working day.
All three ranges are now available in NZ. More information can be found at www.sony.co.nz
