Sir Terence Conran is an icon of the UK design industry – think Habitat stores, look him up on Wiki – and now his sense of style is being applied to his own iPod dock, now available in NZ.
Photos don’t do the Conran Audio iPod dock justice, but they do give some idea about the unique look of this slim, gorgeous unit.
Even more important to Witchdoctor readers is sound that is quite extraordinary for something of its diminutive size. The stunning audio, not surprisingly, is designed by Q Acoustics.
Design features include the illuminated ring around the input selector knob, which changes colour to indicate which source has been selected, and the remote control which fits neatly into the side of the dock when not in use.
The Conran Audio iPod dock will play wirelessly as well, streaming music from iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad or MacBook, and from any Bluetooth-enabled portable media players, tablets, hybrid tablet computers and smartphones.
The dock’s Bluetooth receiver is also compatible with ‘apt-X’, a cutting-edge high-performance audio coding technology which transmits CD-quality full-bandwidth stereo over Bluetooth connections. The future now, indeed.
There’s a lot more to say about this amazing wee unit, but we’ll keep that for our full review.
