TomTom HD Traffic Now On TomTom App

April 28, 2011

I’ve been waiting for this news for a while but at last, TomTom has announced that TomTom HD Traffic will now be available for the first time on the latest version of the TomTom app for iPhone.

TomTom HD Traffic is a technology that uses real-time, traffic flow information to give drivers the most accurate traffic data available. The latest version of the app can be purchased on the iPhone App Store starting today, with HD Traffic available as an in-app purchase. The update to the app for iPhone also offers the latest release of the map of New Zealand.

HD Traffic enables drivers to constantly keep in touch with what is happening on the road and stay informed about conditions ahead. HD Traffic adapts to changing road conditions, ensuring drivers always travel the fastest way around traffic. The app updates every two minutes, giving users access to the most up to date information on delays or changes to their planned route.

Availability and pricing

The updated TomTom App for iPhone is now available in the iPhone App Store for iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS & iPod Touch 3rd Generation, running iOS4 at a cost of $94.99. Current owners of the TomTom App can update to the new version for no additional charge.

For owners of the updated app, TomTom HD Traffic is available as an in-app purchase: 1 month: $9.99 or 12 Months: $49.99

I reviewed HD Traffic on the TomTom Go Live 1000 in-car GPS unit here – the TomTom app has become my default in-car GPS system because it’s way more convenient than dragging around a separate GPS unit. I’ll be reviewing the updated app soon.
