UK songstress Joan Armatrading is to perform two dates in NZ.
The first UK female singer/songwriter to have international success, Armatrading possesses a unique sound that ranges from jazz to true soul to sophisticated pop and reggae.
Armatrading’s notable work includes โLove And Affectionโ, โShow Some Emotionโ,โ Drop The Pilotโ,โ โWillowโ, and ‘Me Myself Iโ. She has received
countless gold, platinum and silver discs, featured in VH1โs Top 100 voting poll as โThe Most Influential Woman in Rockโ, and has been honoured by
the Queen, receiving an MBE.
Armatrading’s latest, jazz-flavoured release Starlight (2012), captures the very best of her songwriting talent with intimate songs that have a confession like quality.
Joining Armatrading for her Wellington show only is composer, multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Taj Mahal. Inducted into the Blues Hall Of Fame in 2009, the two-time Grammyยฎ Award winnerโs musical legacy counts him as one of the most prominent and influential figures in blues and roots music.
