Cambridge Audio has followed up the 2011 launch of its NP30 network music player with the announcement of the higher specification Stream Magic 6, which offers the digital music enthusiast a wealth of ways to experience premium quality audio including:
Music stored on PCs, Macs and NAS drives can be instantly accessed by Stream Magic 6. thanks to its UPnP Audio Streaming compatibility – no complicated set-up or software required.
All major formats are supported including 24 bit files.
Making the most of the world of Internet Radio, Stream Magic 6 allows access to over 20,000 vetted internet radio stations which can be searched by name, genre or location.
Stream Magic 6 enhances the sound quality of external digital music sources and features twin 24-bit digital inputs which allow TVs, Blu-ray players, digital iPod/iPad docks and any other gadgets with a digital audio connection to be significantly upgraded.
A 24-bit compatible USB audio-input enables audio from PCs and Macs to also be enjoyed in โBetter than CD qualityโ.
Music streaming services can be accessed directly by Stream Magic 6.
Stream Magic 6 is easy to set-up and use. Wireless connectivity to home networks avoids cable clutter and allows it to be added to an existing entertainment system without hassle.
Intuitive control is offered from the ergonomic front panel or remote and in addition, one of Stream Magic 6โs most exciting features is a native iPhone or iPad app, which offers control of every feature as well as controlling the volume of both Stream Magic 6 and a connected Cambridge Audio stereo amplifier or AV receiver.
Key to the Stream Magic 6’s sonic abilities are a pair of Wolfson DACs used in dual differential mode mated to the same 24-bit/384kHz upsampling system seen in the recent DacMagic Plus. This technology adds richness and depth to all formats of digital music. A range of audiophile touches add to the Stream Magic 6’s credentials, including fully balanced audio outputs for the best connection with Cambridge Audioโs new 851A amplifier.
โWith Stream Magic 6, we were able to take our learnings from the NP30 project and apply them to an even more exciting opportunityโ says Cambridge Audioโs Technical Director Matthew Bramble. He continued, โThe team always delights in eking out more performance from a tried and trusted platform and by using some high-end components and redeveloping the audio circuits, weโve managed to deliver a truly stunning sounding productโ.
The Stream Magic 6 will be available in April and will sell for $1,599.
This sounds like a seriously interesting piece of kit that I for one am looking forward to hearing next month!
