In August this year Lynx launched the new Lynx Xbox Range and are hosting the Lynx Esports Tournament to crown the Ultimate Lynx Legend in Australasia.
Now, if you’re anything like me your first thought was: “Radical!”, and then your second thought was: “Oh, there is no way an old gamer like me can handle these youngsters who spend hours and hours at online gaming. I have a job, a mortgage, a dog, lawns to mow, a motorcycle that won’t ride itself and a ‘honeydo’ list from my partner that makes War And Peace look like a flyer for the car show you find under your windscreen wiper in the carpark of Pak’nSave.”
Well, the truth is that this tournament is aimed at casual and enthusiastic gamers alike and while I have yet to win a match up I am having a whale of a time.
There are two games you can compete in, Marvel Vs. Capcom Infinite and Pro Evolution Soccer 2019.
I will be honest that I am a bit of a button masher when it comes to fighting games and so I was just having some fun, but when it came to the soccer (football) game, I actually fancied my chances.
I’ve played Pro Evolution Soccer for many years and against my friends I am top 3. Which makes my current record of 0 for 3 a little painful. That said, two of those games were lost in penalty shoot outs, so I can take solace in that at least.
Losses aside, it has been fun interacting with other gamers from NZ and across the ditch and so far no one has been nasty.
So for those who have a bit more time and skill than me the ultimate prize for the top eight gamers is a trip to PAX in Melbourne to fight it out to appear on the big stage for the grand finale. The winner of that final will be crowned the inaugural Lynx Legend and win an all–expenses VIP trip to PAX in America!
The other exciting thing is that the fragrance is really good, and if you remember those all-nighters we used to pull (and the occasional we still do when we have a night to ourselves) having Lynx will certainly make the experience more enjoyable.
