Metrum Acoustics has recently introduced two new products โ the Onyx and Jade Digital to Analogue Converters (DAC), which are part of the companyโs Gem range.
Both units are true 24-bit converters, with specifications and performance levels that approach the flagship Metrum DAC models.
Onyx and Jade share the same basic design and construction. They both feature four DAC TWO modules. Each of these modules contains two of the miniaturized versions of the earlier DAC ONE + FPGA (Forward Correction) modules. The circuit boards have also been improved, providing faster processing, while power requirements have been substantially reduced, with only one toroidal transformer now required. Jade features a high-performance digital volume control but Onyx is a pure DAC, although both have a remote control.
Prices are Onyx $4200 and Jade $4995, with expected availability in NZ just in time for Xmas.
