Cambridge Audio’s new Universal player will hit NZ shores in September.

Cambridge-Audio-CXU-Universal-Player-BreitCAMBRIDGE AUDIO HAS announced its new high end universal player, the CXU.

This new member of the acclaimed CX Series confirms the company’s continued commitment to the Blu-ray format. It says that the CXU builds “on the development of the already outstanding 752BD to create a truly high end product designed from the outset to offer the highest possible video and audio performance plus exceptional flexibility and connectivity.”

The CXU includes the latest Mediatek chipset, achieving playback that’s both lightning fast and truly universal. Compatible formats include 3D Blu-ray, Blu-ray DVD, CD, SACD, DVD-A, AVCHD and HDCD – all reproduced in superb quality. The CXU also includes DARBEE Visual Presence video processing technology.

Audio reproduction is also exceptional, thanks to separate Wolfson WM8740 D/A converters, ensuring that every audio channel is decoded to the highest possible quality, with Cambridge Audio’s own proprietary ATF audio technology up-sampling all audio to 24-bit/192kHz output to provide “the ultimate sound quality from all sources.”

cambridgecxuFor those who consider Blu-ray players already anachronistic, Cambridge Audio maintains that the CXU “features class-leading connectivity, turning the product from a disc player into a digital media hub. No less than 11 different audio and video sources can be played through the CXU thanks to the inclusion of two HDMI inputs, two HDMI ARC outputs, three USB inputs and both S/PDIF coaxial and TOSLINK optical digital audio inputs.”

There’s also the choice of wired Ethernet or wireless network connection via the supplied dongle, and support for a Mobile High-definition Link (MHL), which can be used to connect a mobile device through the CXU universal player.

* The Cambridge CXU Universal Player will be available in NZ in September through PQ Imports, and will retail for $2199.
