RUARK AUDIO’S NEW MR1 Bluetooth speaker system is the latest wireless audio product to hit New Zealandโs retail shelves. The MR1 answers the most pressing question raised by the rather good R2i (reviewed here) and R4i (reviewed here) models โ why canโt they do wireless? Well the MR1 can and does.
Featuring hand-crafted wood enclosures with custom-designed drive units (long throw 75mm woofers and 20mm treated textile dome tweeters), a 20 watt Class A/B amplifier and aptX technology for high-quality wireless audio, the MR1 is intended to offer all the sound quality of the other Ruark models with wireless convenience.
The analogue input means they can also be used as desktop computer speakers and to dramatically improve the sound of flat panel TVs. Theoretically, they could even be used as the basis of a standalone stereo system by connecting a turntable or a CD player (and even a subwoofer via the sub output). The MR1 is shipped with a compact remote control.
The MR1 retails for $699 and is available in Walnut,Soft Black and Soft White.
