ATCโs NEW SIACD is intended to be a simple yet versatile one-box solution for D-A conversion, CD playback, and pre and power amplification duties. Itโs housed in a compact chassis thatโs only 315mm wide and is designed to expand on, and is styled to match ATCโs range of stand-alone domestic electronic products.
The SIACD is based on a new class A/B โgrounded sourceโ power amplification stage offering 100 watts per channel. Many other manufacturers favour class-D power amp technology for compact devices, but ATC has based the SIACDโs power amp design on the class A/B circuits employed in the companyโs professional active loudspeakers. In this revised design, ATCโs engineers have made further improvements to the discrete MOSFET output stage to further reduce distortion, offer extremely wide bandwidth and lower the idle temperature
Thereโs a CD player and a built-in high performance DAC with USB, coaxial and optical digital inputs โ like ATCโs CDA2 DAC/Preamp/CD player (reviewed here), the SIACDโs USB input supports 16/48 resolution, so itโs not a high-resolution computer audio solution out of the box. Thereโs a dedicated headphone amplifier, this time with a front mounted jack, which will please the Witchdoctor reviewers no end.
The SIACD also features two stereo line level analogue inputs, a 3.5mm aux input and one stereo line level output. Itโs hand built in Stroud, UK, is available in black or silver anodised finishes and carries ATCโs usual six-year warranty.
RRP is still TBC but is expected to be around $6999 with expected availability in July.
Now that is an all-in-one to be proud of.
