Sony has announced a new line of Walkman Mobile Entertainment Players, one is a flagship Android powered model, the other is the thinnest Walkman ever.
The range topping F800 Series incorporates Sonyโs digital audio technologies to deliver a richer, bolder and louder sound. According to Sony, proprietary Clear Audio technologies are implemented to offer detailed sound with deep and powerful bass while restoring the subtle high frequency details that often get lost when listening to heavily-compressed digital music files. The integrated S-Master digital amplifier incorporated in the flagship F800 Series reduces noise levels and distortion and cuts clipping from overdriven amplification stages.
The F800 Series runs Android 4.0 (โIce Cream Sandwichโ) and has a generous range of pre-installed apps, from email to maps and a media gallery. Thereโs a 3.5-inch multi-touch screen and an NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core processor.
At just 7.0-millimeters thin, the Walkman E470 Series is the slimmest Walkman player ever from Sony. The E470 Series models are packed with fun features such as karaoke mode, synchronized lyrics and two pre-installed Tetris and Sudoku like games, Puyo Pop Fever and Number Place, which run on a 2.0-inch LCD screen.
Both models give music lovers access to a global library of more than 15 million songs with Sony Entertainment Networkโs cloud-based Music Unlimited Service. As part of a monthly subscription, Music Unlimited lets users transfer their favourite playlists and ad-free music channels to their Walkman for listening when offline. Walkman supports drag-and-drop transfer of music, photos, videos, podcasts and playlists from iTunes for Windows via Media Go software or Windows Media Player.
The new Walkman E470 Series will be available in New Zealand from August and the Walkman F800 Series will available from October.
