Myryad audio components are now being brought into NZ by Capisco and are available from a select group of retailers.
The company was founded in 1995; the brand is well known in the United Kingdom and exports 90% of its production to over 40 countries, so its high time us Kiwis had a taste. The people behind it have a long history in the audio industry. Chris Evans was one of the founders of Arcam and went on to be technology director at NAD, while David Evans was production director at NAD. Chris Short founded Mordaunt Short and was chairman at Tannoy before getting involved with Myryad.
A wide range of Myryad hi-fi separates will be stocked from the entry level Z-Series components starting at $999 to the more upmarket MX-Series kit, which starts at $1,899 and includes a modular power amplifier that can be set up in stereo or multichannel configurations covering anything from 2 x 80 watt, 1 x 150 watt up to 7 x 150 watt or 14 x 80 watt. The MI music centre (amplifier/CD player/tuner/iPod dock) will also be available.
I’ve got my hands on a Z142 integrated amp and a Z114 CD player, which will be placed in the review queue for testing in the near future. I’ve also got an exclusive interview with David Jeffreys, one of the international sales managers for Myryad’s parent company Armour Home, which will be loaded as soon as possible.
