Talk about changing the way the world shops โ Apple’s App Store has hit a major milestone. Ten billion apps have been downloaded in a mere two and a half years. The App Store account holder who bought the ten billionth app was given an iTunes voucher worth approximately NZ$13,000, which would buy a very nice music collection.
A bunch of those billions of apps would have been free downloads but a fair chunk of them would have been paid for and when there are that many being bought, the money adds up in a hurry. Is it any wonder that other manufacturers are desperately getting in on the act?
There are now around 350,000 apps available to over 160 million users on the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch platforms but expect Google to have something to say about who owns the market over the next few years with Android.
